Night Players Sneek Peek

Last show of the month is coming Friday night. Where has the month gone?! Well while things are trying to cool off, Night Players is gonna heat it back up! Tomorrow night, one of the Players is going to do a lil... Tom Jones....

Here are some song facts for you to enjoy...
(from Wikipedia)
"Sex Bomb" is a 1999 song recorded by Welsh pop singer Tom Jones. Performed in collaboration with producer Mousse T., it was released in May 2000[1] and became the biggest single from the album Reload. It reached #3 in the UK Singles Chart. The "Peppermint Disco Mix", a club version with house music beats, contains a sample from "All American Girls" by Sister Sledge and has been used as the opening theme song of the WB Network television series Grosse Pointe. A jazzier "swing version" appears in Mousse T.'s solo album Gourmet De Funk.

(from songfacts)
The song was used in The Simpsons episode, "C.E. D'oh" when Homer accidentally gives Maggie the song for bedtime. (He'd intended to play it for Marge for Valentine's Day).

August Sneek Peek Part 4

It's that time gain where Paramount gives you readers another sneeky peek at Saturday's show. This performer will take you on a trip to a retirement home?! Yup, she's bringing a few friends to help clean the place...and dance...

Here are some song facts for you to enjoy...
(from songfacts)

Funk legend Bootsy Collins helped write this song and played on it. Collins played bass for George Clinton's Parliament/Funkadelic, and has worked on many side projects, including The Bootzilla Orchestra and Deee-Lite.

The video was directed by Spike Jonze, who, among others, has worked with R.E.M., Weezer, and Soundgarden. He directed Fatboy Slim's "Praise You" video in 1999.

The video features Christopher Walken dancing. Walken is famous for playing an evil psycho in movies like True Romance, The Deer Hunter, Sleepy Hollow, and Pulp Fiction, which made for a very interesting video because it turns out Walken is a great dancer. He danced in musicals at the beginning of his career. Mickey Rooney's son Michael was the choreographer.

The video won six MTV Video Music awards: Breakthrough Video, Best Direction, Best Choreography, Best Art Direction, Best Editing, and Best Cinematography.

August Sneek Peek 2

So it's August, still, HOT, BLAH.... I thought it's about time for another sneek peak! Anything Goes is the theme, so... anything can be done by any dancer! THIS dancer went to an island to cool off...

Here are some song facts for you to enjoy...
(from Wikipedia)

"Message in a Bottle" is a song by English rock band The Police. It was released as the lead single from their second studio album, Reggatta de Blanc (1979). Written by the band's lead singer and bassist Sting; the song is ostensibly about a story of a castaway on an island, who sends out a message in a bottle to seek love. A year later, he has not received any sort of response, and despairs, thinking he is destined to be alone. The next day, he sees "a hundred billion bottles" on the shore, finding out that there are more people like him out there.

Rolling Stone ranked it number 65 on its list of the "100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time".

(from Songfacts)
This song is about a guy stranded on a remote island. One day he finds a bottle, puts a message in it and throws it out to sea in hopes that someone will find it and come save him. The lyrics can be seen as a metaphor for being lonely and realizing there are lots of people just like you. (thanks, Sid - Bryson City, NC)

This was the first UK #1 hit for The Police. Their first two albums were much bigger in their native England than in the US.

Sting performed this with No Doubt at halftime of the 2003 Super Bowl between the Bucs and Raiders. No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani came out and sang with him about midway through. Stefani inducted Police into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later that year.

August Sneek Peek

So it's August, we have a new show coming this Saturday! Anything Goes is the theme, so... anything can be done by any dancer! One particular dancer picked a James Bond theme song. She loves it, she just had to dance to it!

Here are some song facts for you to enjoy...
(from Wikipedia)
"Skyfall" is the theme song of the 2012 James Bond film of the same name, performed by English recording artist Adele. It was written by Adele and producer Paul Epworth and features orchestration by J. A. C. Redford. Film company Eon Productions invited the singer to work on the theme song in early 2011, a task that Adele accepted after reading the film's script. While composing the song, Adele and Epworth aimed to capture the mood and style of the other Bond themes, including dark and moody lyrics descriptive of the film's plot.

"Skyfall" was released at 0:07 BST on 5 October 2012 as part of the Global James Bond Day, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of Dr. No, the first James Bond film. The song quickly went to the top of the iTunes chart, and reached number two at the UK Singles Chart and eight on the Billboard Hot 100. Reviews were positive, with the song being compared to Shirley Bassey's Bond themes, and "Skyfall" became the first Bond theme to win at the Golden Globes, the Brit Awards and the Academy Awards. During the 85th Academy Awards, Adele gave her first live performance of the song.

(from songfacts)
Adele's theme song is the first to carry the same name as the Bond movie since Madonna's "Die Another Day" in 2002.

Daniel Craig admitted to Yahoo that he found himself coming over a bit emotional when the song was first played to him: "I cried," the James Bond star said. "From the opening bars I knew immediately, then the voice kicked in and it was exactly what I'd wanted from the beginning. It just got better and better because it fitted the movie. In fact the more of the movie we made, the more it fitted it."
